Thanks you for this informative article.
I fully agree with your conclusions about recycling glass, especially since, as you have noted, we've got the stuff here already! That much less embodied energy in the reuse, to make up for its weight.
Additionally,the inert nature of glass is crucial from a human health standpoint.
The cosmetics industry would do well to take note of all you have written (love the coke bottle example).
