For years I have been using 1/3 of whatever the manufacturer says to use of soap. There is no need to use so much soap to clean - because friction cleans clothes (beating clothes on rocks for example). Now if I can just bring my own container to the store and fill it up with concentrate that would be awesome. In Sydney Australia they had containers that were refills for the platic containers - were they greener? I don't think so...but refill me baby from a big drum - I would be happy!
