  • Build a Green Data Center -- Get a $1.4 Million Check

    How's this for an immediate return on investment: Build a greener data center, and get a $1.4 million rebate from your electric company. That's what happened with NetApp.

    NetApp was awarded the $1.4 million rebate from California's Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), whose Non-Residential New Construction Program gives rebates to PG&E's customers to use energy-efficient building design and construction.

    NetApp received the check for the work it did when designing and building its new Sunnyvale engineering data center. NetApp stressed power efficiency and reduced cooling needs through techniques such as environmentally friendly flywheel uninterruptible...
